چکیده

The impact of model horizontal grid spacing on meteorology and dust emissions in the Bodélé depression was investigated during the well-documented period of the Bodélé Dust Experiment 2005 (BoDEx 2005). Five horizontal grid spacing ranging from 100 km to 5 km were tested. The main conclusion of these sensitivity tests is that the meteorology of the Bodélé depression is quite insensitive to model horizontal grid spacing below 50 km in agreement with Todd et al.’s (2008b) results. Below 50 km, dust emissions also appear relatively insensitive to model mesh size, the influence of model horizontal grid spacing on dust emissions tending towards an asymptotic behavior as model mesh size is reduced. 2012 Elsevier Ltd. Investigating the RegCM model ability in simulation ‎of summer Khorasan dust ‎

The Great Khorasan in northeast Iran has a variety of surface structures and plains and high peaks, but due to its vicinity to the deserts of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, it is affected by dust all the time, especially in summer. The purpose of this study was to simulate summer dust in this region by RegCM model. For this purpose, during the period 2000 to 2017, three extreme dust events were ...

Analysis and tracking dust storms routes entering to east of Iran using the particle diffusion HYSPLIT model

Extended abstract 1- Introduction A dust storm is one of the biggest serious environmental problems in the arid and semi-arid regions of the world, causing irreparable damages to farms, facilities, roads, traffic and transportation every year and respitory problems by contaminating the air. Due to the geographic location of Iran which is  in the arid and semi-arid belt of the world, the count...

How different source regions across the Middle East change aerosol and dust particle characteristics

A major question is whether different source regions across the Middle East account for changes in aerosol and dust particle characteristics, which impact Western Iran. Therefore, over a period of sampling from April 2017 to April 2018, dust particles were collected in Western Iran from different cities including Urmia, Sanandaj, Sare-Pole-Zahab, Dehloran and Abadan. The research aim is to comp...

An Assessment of Wind Erosion Schemes in Dust Emission Simulations over the Middle East

Extended abstract 1- INTRODUCTION        Atmospheric aerosols, solid and liquid particles in the atmosphere, play a crucial role in the atmospheric radiation equilibrium. These particles have an influence on the scattering and absorption of short wavelength radiation, and on the other hand, affect radiation absorption and emission in long wavelengths. Dust particles are among the importan...
